Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: September 2026

Business Name: Wood Furniture by Peter

Location: Heckington, Lincolnshire, UK

Website: www.woodfurniturebypeter.co.uk

These Terms and Conditions govern the use of our website and all custom furniture commissions, quotes, and services provided by Wood Furniture by Peter. By requesting a quote, placing a custom commission, or using this website, you agree to these terms.

1. Quotes & Commission Orders

  • Quotations: All written quotes provided via email or site inquiry are valid for 30 days from the date issued, after which timber and material costs may be subject to review.
  • Order Confirmation & Deposits: A commission is formally accepted once design specifications are agreed upon and a deposit (typically 50%) is received. Deposit payment secures your timber and your position in our workshop schedule.
  • Design Adjustments: Any changes to dimensions, timber selection, or design details requested after timber cutting has commenced may incur additional material or labor charges.

2. Payments & Pricing

  • Prices for bespoke items are calculated based on timber selection, dimensions, finish, and delivery distance.
  • Final balance payments must be settled in full prior to or upon personal delivery/collection, as outlined in your order invoice.

3. Personal Delivery & Client Access

  • Personal UK Delivery: All custom furniture is delivered personally by Peter across the UK mainland (or made available for workshop collection in Heckington, Lincolnshire).
  • Home Access: The client is responsible for ensuring that the commissioned item can safely fit through doorways, stairwells, and entryways into their chosen room.
  • Delivery Scheduling: We agree on delivery dates mutually upon completion of the build. Re-delivery fees may apply if no one is available to receive the delivery at the agreed time.

4. Natural Wood Characteristics & Care

  • Timber Variation: Every piece of solid wood is unique. Variations in grain pattern, color, knotting, and natural texture are inherent characteristics of high-grade timber and are not considered defects.
  • Environmental Movement: Solid wood responds to changes in room temperature and humidity. Minor movement, fine surface checking, or seasonal expansion/contraction are natural behaviors of solid timber. Guidelines on maintaining stable indoor conditions and caring for your finish are provided upon delivery.

5. Cancellations & Returns

  • Bespoke Commissioned Items: Under UK Consumer Contracts Regulations, custom items made to your specific dimensions and specifications cannot be returned or cancelled for a change of mind once timber processing has started.
  • Defects or Transit Damage: Because Peter hand-delivers every piece, items are inspected together upon installation. In the rare event of a structural flaw or defect, we will repair, adjust, or replace the item at no cost to you.
  • Etsy Purchases: Smaller off-the-shelf items purchased via our external Etsy store are governed by Etsy’s standard store policies.

6. Website Intellectual Property & Usage

  • All content on www.woodfurniturebypeter.co.uk—including photography, project text, graphics, logos, and custom furniture designs—is the property of Wood Furniture by Peter and protected under UK copyright laws.
  • You may not reproduce, copy, or commercialise any content or design assets from this website without explicit written permission.

7. Limitation of Liability

Wood Furniture by Peter shall not be liable for indirect, indirect financial, or consequential loss arising from delivery delays due to events beyond our reasonable control (e.g., severe weather, supplier timber shortages). Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the price paid for the commission.

8. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
